The Perfect Pitch

Exciting news!  I will be returning to Creede Repertory Company this summer to direct Steven Levenson's THE LANGUAGE OF TREES.  This is a play I fell in love with since I read the first draft seven years ago, and has been on the top of my pitch list ever since.  I'm absolutely thrilled to finally be getting to tell this beautiful story to the audiences in Colorado.

If you're out in Colorado this summer, check it out!

Adventures in the Art of Theatre Makin'

One of the best parts of going to Brown/Trinity MFA Programs was how lucky I was to meet wonderful collaborators who are actors/writers/directors.  One of my insanely talented classmates, Annie Worden, presented a short twenty minute piece as her final recital that told the hilarious and poignant story about her experience working on a small indie film in the woods of California.

Since then, we've been developing it, and I'm so proud to say that it's being presented right now as part of the New York International Fringe Festival.

So Proud

I'm proud to announce that From White Plains has been nominated for NYIT Awards for Outstanding Premiere Production of a Play, Outstanding Original Full-Length Script, and Outstanding Actor in a Leading Role for Karl Gregory, who played Dennis.  I can't tell you how proud I am and how honored I am by these nominations.

Check back on September 25th to see if it won anything!

Raves are pouring in!

The raves are coming in for From White Plains!

What makes this particularly exciting is that the critics seem to be understanding exactly what it was we were aiming to do, and feeling that we accomplished those goals!  What a great feeling to have.

Art Isn't Easy...

But it can be so rewarding!

I am so proud to post about my newest project, a play called From White Plains that opened last night.  It's a play I wrote with an amazing group of actors and designers and produced by Fault Line Theater Company.  Doing double duty as playwright and director is one of the harder things I've done, but the difficulty makes the result so rewarding.

We started the project with a simple idea of using the hot topic of Bullying to explore what it means to become an adult.  We wanted to challenge the notion that good play development requires years and readings and workshops to accomplish, and simply say, we have a story to tell and we are committed to telling it.  A short five months later, here we are!

People have really been responding to this play!  Try to see it if you can!  It runs til Sunday, June 10th!
